There are many decorating dorm room ideas out there. You can find décor to suit just about any style and taste. There are some things to consider before making a bunch of purchases especially if this is your first year on campus.

When you prepare to leave for college there are a lot of things to remember. There are so many necessities that you don’t even think about until you don’t have them. One of the most important decorating dorm room items available is a space organizer.

Anything that helps you stay organized is going to do wonders for the small space. You can choose from wicker baskets for storage or you can opt for brightly colored plastic containers as well. These items will add interest to the area and they provide much needed storage for your items.

Many new college students miss the comforts of home. When my roommate and I arrived on campus we found that our room was cold and unwelcoming. We couldn’t sleep and we really were getting homesick. Once we saw the decorating dorm room ideas that the girls across the hall were using we decided to go shopping.

It was great that we got to make the decisions together. We came from very different backgrounds. She liked Victorian lace and I liked a southwestern motif. The two just didn’t go together at all. When coming up with dorm decorating ideas it is best if the roommates work together.

We both liked a country theme for our decorating dorm room project. This is a traditional style that can be achieved with neutral colors. There wasn’t too much lace and there were no tumbleweeds. The homey appeal of the country theme was perfect and it made for a great casual space.

After adding details like wall hangings and a nice, fluffy rug we found that our dorm room was beginning to look like home. Pillows are great accessories that gave the space a comfortable look and feel.

Of course the traditional country cottage style made the space warm and inviting. It was the perfect compromise between two young women who would grow to become lifelong friends.
